Events

The Acacia Mixer usually occurs at the beginning of the Fall semester. The purpose of this event is for the new Acacia cabinet to get to know the student body. We eat snacks and play games.

Teaming up with the Creative Writing Club here on campus, Spooken Word offers an opportunity for students to showcase their best creative writing to their peers. This event occurs in late October. We also hold a costume contest and serve snacks.

Finals study sessions occur near the end of the semester where we will designate time to help workshop finals papers together. Sometimes, these sessions are split up into two sides, the "study" side and the "refresher" side in case students want to relax.

The Acacia Faculty Mixer occurs at the beginning of the Spring semester. This event is a good way for Graduate students to get to know multiple faculty members and is helpful if you want to discuss potential project ideas. Come and see which professor could be right for you to work with.

The Proposal Workshop occurs in the Spring semester where Acacia will guide students in writing their proposals for the Acacia Conference.

The Acacia Conference is an annual event for students to present their creative work or critical research. The Spring conference focuses on literature, theory, and pedagogy, offering an opportunity for students of all levels to engage in academic discourse and gain experience at academic conferences.
